Apply for my Award

This award is given out to sites that promote historical content. I love viewing web sites that have been designed by HTML professionals but I am more impressed with a basic design expressing more passion than HTML skills. Show me passion, an enjoyable informative read and a design pleasing to the eye that meets qualifications listed below, then you might earn this award.

Regimental or soldier tribute web sites are encouraged to apply. Re-enacting web sites are welcomed as well but a respectable portion of the site must contain historical content of the unit they are portraying.

Not every applicant will earn this award even if you meet all qualifications, but I do promise you that all sites that apply and meet all qualifications will receive a fair review.

Please remember that you are asking me to evaluate your web site. I am not an educator or a web site designer but do know what I like. Web sites awarded "Nelson's Sharps Site Award for a Sharp Site" will be listed and linked on the Winning Sites page. With that in mind, here are the qualifications to apply.

Qualifications

Must meet all requirements.
  • Documented historical content
  • Historical accuracy
  • Educate others

Dis-qualifications

No exceptions, if any of the below exists on your web site, please let's not waste each others time by applying.
  • Under construction
  • Commercial site
  • Promotes religious, racial, ethnic or sectional bigotry
  • Text contains profanity other than in quoted historical passages
  • Pornography, nudity or sexual content
  • Inaccurate historical content and undocumented sources
  • Poor spelling and grammer
  • Sites that offer only links to other web sites
  • More than a few dead links

If you meet the qualifications as outlined and wish to apply for this award, email me at web master at talkingrelics dot com the following:

  • Name
  • Site title
  • Site URL
  • Short site description
  • Contact email

I will strive to review all qualified applicants within a reasonable amount of time. If your site has earned this award, I will email you with the graphic as an attachment or as a link so that you may download and size to best fit your site design.

If you applied, met qualifications but have not heard from me within 30 days, improve your site and resubmit. Please do not apply more than twice.

If you resubmitted your site and still have not heard from me within another 30 days, your site did not earn my award. I encourage you to apply elsewhere and I wish you success.
